Introducing Skippy!

My real name is Georgia. I live in Australia, Victoria, Hawkesdale. Hawkesdale is a small town in the country. I live around 5 minutes out of Hawkesdale. Around 200 people live in Hawkesdale.

I am 12 years old. I am in grade 6. Our year 6 graduation is at the end of this term.

I love to play netball. Our netball season has just finished. My team was in the Grand final and we won! We are premiers. Everyone on my team got a medallion.

My favourite subjects at school are ICT (information communication technology), SOSE and writing.

I have a pet goat. His name is Walter. We feed him our food scraps. We also have 2 birds. They are both are a cockatiel. Their names are Locky and Ollie. We also have some feral cats which we feed. One of them has just had some more kittens. they live under our storage room which is seperate to the house.

My favourite song at the moment is is it you, by Cassie. I listen to it all the time after school.

Blog Partner!!!!!!

I haven’t told you yet but we are doing a global project called ‘A room with a view’ with a school in Hollywood, Florida. We take a picture at the same spot each month for a year and so will the Hollywood school.

We recently got told that we were getting partners who are a this school. They have just started blogging so we are going to help them. My blogging buddy is Skyla. I visited her blog today and hoping she will comment on mine soon.

Differences between Hawkesdale college and Ummul Guro?

  1. Their school is a bording school and ours isn’t.
  2. Boys and Girls are in seperate classes.
  3. They don’t have weekends. They only have Friday off.
  4. They have to wear sandals. They have sandal check ups twice a month and if they get caught not wearing sandals they have to do 10 push ups in the middle of the circle.
  5. The girls have to wear a jilbab from 6 ’til they die!
  6. They start school at 7:00 but get up at 5:00 to start their prays.

Ummul Guro’s school website!

Visit from Saiful!

A man called Saiful visited our classroom the other day. He’s from Indonesia. He told us some interesting facts about Indonesia and his life.

  • There are 90 teachers at his school.
  • He is a history teacher.
  • There are around 30-40 students in each class.
  • They eat rice for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
  • They have to wear sandals and if they aren’t wearing sandals they have to do 10 push ups in the middle of the circle.
  • They wear white uniforms.
  • There are 2000 students at their school.
  • They have corn and rice farms.

Why should students blog?

  1. It’s FUN!
  2. It shows the world what we are learning in school and especially ICT.
  3. People all around the world can leave comments and teach you new stuff.
  4. It makes you write more then you would in your classroom.
  5. It gives you something to do in your spare time.
  6. It makes you use the computer so your skills are more advanced.
  7. You meet other people and is a easy way to chat.

Whay do you reckon students should be able to blog? Please fill free to leave a comment.
